Marc entered the New South Wales Police at the age of 21. He was immediately identified as an excellent public speaker who was able to engage and identify with an audience. As such he was seconded to the Community Relations Unit, where he initiated the Neighbourhood Watch Programme in vast areas of New South Wales. As part of his duties in this section he also lectured at both primary and high schools on a state wide basis, on topics ranging from bicycle safety to careers advice. During this time Marc worked extensively with intellectually and physically handicapped persons.

After a number of years in these duties and a period of time working in undercover and plain clothes divisions, he transferred to duties as a Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) in the Forensic Services Group.
During almost 10 years of service as a CSI Marc worked all over the state, assisting with major investigations in a number of policing areas such as:
- Murder
- Arson
- Suicide
- Motor Vehicle Accidents (Investigation and Reconstruction)
- Break Enter and Steal
- Coroner’s Investigations
Whilst with the Forensic Services Marc completed a Diploma in Applied Science (Forensic Investigations) through the Canberra Institute of Technology. These studies covered areas listed below, as well as many others:
- Blood Stain Evidence
- Human Physiology and Anatomy
- Firearm and Explosives
- Forensic Medicine
- Forensic Biology
- Drug Investigation
- DNA Analysis
For his efforts whilst undertaking this Diploma Marc was awarded Certificates for Outstanding Achievement in the following areas:
- Specialist Project (Forensic Entomology)
- Physical Evidence Comparison
- Vehicle Examination
Also during his term with that section Marc successfully completed various other relevant courses, including:
- Wildfire Origin and Cause Determination
- Statement of Attainment in Explosives (Powderman's Certificate)
- Arson Awareness Certificate
- Certificate in Forensic Photography
- Certificate in Drafting
Major investigations and activities that Marc was involved in include:
- Inveistigation/Examination of the Belanglo Backpacker Murders
- Determination of the 1995 Como/Jannali fires
- Assisting with draft DNA Data Base legislation for submission to the NSW Parliament
- Investigation into the murder of Constable David Cardy
After this phase of his career Marc joined the Police Prosecuting Section, where he was responsible for the day to day running of Police prosecutions in the Local Court. With this Marc was able to apply the knowledge he had gained with the Police on a practical basis.
Whilst with the Police Prosecutors Marc placed second in the 1998 Miln Shield, a state-wide public speaking competition that was adjudicated by Her Honour, NSW Supreme Court Judge, Justice Gaudron.
Following the completion of his Diploma of Law and Graduate Certificate of Legal Practice Marc has continued to develop his public speaking, winning area and regional public speaking contests with Toastmasters International.
Marc works in the areas of Criminal and Family Law, but has also conducted Care Proceedings in the Children’s Court and has a detailed knowledge of procedures in the Coroner’s Court.
The development of Marc’s career has led to the creation of a solicitor of great empathy, who will listen to what clients have to say and is able to expertly guide them through the legal maze. However, rather than just graduating as a lawyer, Marc’s experience makes him a hard nosed investigator, who has a detailed understanding of police process and forensic evidence; the type of evidence upon which many police cases hinge.
